FORTHEM Alliance Semi-Annual Meeting

The seven member universities of the FORTHEM Alliance met remotely from September 28 to October 2, 2020 for their major biannual meeting.

These exchanges had several objectives:

  • to discuss and validate the interim activity reports to the European Commission ;
  • to select the short mobility projects presented by the seven universities to be financed from the FORTHEM budget;
  • to discuss and adopt a charter of good practices in terms of mobility;
  • update the alliance's digital strategy.

    In the end, 17 individual short mobility programs (including 2 from Burgundy) have been selected and will enable students to spend a stay in the alliance's partner universities during this academic year.

    The FORTHEM Mobility Charter was also adopted. It sets out 24 principles to be implemented within the alliance in order to reduce the barriers to mobility identified by the partners by 2022 or 2025.

    Over the past few months, FORTHEM alliance members have realized that digital is a key issue for the functioning of the alliance in general and that a more intense collaboration and strategy needs to be put in place. For example, one of the goals is to ensure that each university's systems are inter-operational.

    The next physical meeting is scheduled for May 2021 in Jyväskylä, Finland.
