French lessons
The International Centre of French Studies (Centre international d'études françaises - CIEF) offers French courses at all levels throughout the academic year. It is located at the University of Burgundy on the Dijon campus.
Each year CIEF welcomes 1,500 students and professors from all across the world to help them discover the French language, culture and civilisation. The centre can prepare you for further studies at a higher education institution and also offers training for French language professors from foreign countries.
All CIEF programmes require you to complete ongoing course work, tests and exams in order to evaluate your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages.

Family life
In France, education is obligatory for children between the ages of 3 and 16. Public teaching establishments (non-paying schools) and private schools (paying) teach the same curriculum nationwide. The majority of school establishments offer canteen services at lunch time. For children between the age of 3 and 6, nursery schools and primary schools generally offer childcare services before and after school.
- For children younger than 3 years old: there are different structures to welcome young children depending on your needs: Nursery, Crèche, Day care centre and Childminders.
- For children between 3 and 16: you can educate your child at a primary school, secondary school or college, public or private, depending on their age.
