A number of grants are available for students going abroad on an exchange or internship.

Eligibility conditions may depend on the type of mobility (different exchange programmes, studies, internships...), the budget available, the number of applicants, your socio-economic situation, the destination country or the duration of your mobility.

These grants can often be combined. In some cases, they will cover all your mobility costs (travel, accommodation, food, sightseeing, etc.), especially if you are going to countries where the cost of living is lower. But some of you will need to have your own budget to (co)finance the cost of your international mobility. Whatever your situation, you need to ensure that you have sufficient financial resources in advance, because even if you are eligible to one or more grants, payments may be made several weeks or months after your departure, depending on how long it takes for your application to be processed administratively and financially.

Erasmus+ grant for studies


Who is eligible for an Erasmus+ grant for studies? What are the eligibility conditions?

Students from the University of Burgundy who are going to study for a semester or academic year as part of the Erasmus+ programme at one of uB's partner universities.

Within the budget allocated to the uB by the Erasmus+ programme: all students from the University of Burgundy taking part in an Erasmus+ exchange are eligible, provided their application is complete and submitted to the uB's International Office on time.

You must also comply with European rules limiting the number of Erasmus+ grants you can receive.

How do I apply?

Your grant application will be taken into account automatically as you submit your Erasmus+ application for studies through the International Office Mobility-Online platform. No further action is required.

Erasmus+ grant for internships


Who is eligible for the Erasmus+ grant for internships? What are the eligibility conditions?

Students from the University of Burgundy, starting from the 1st year of undergraduate studies, who are going abroad on an optional or compulsory internship as part of their studies at uB.

Duration of internship: minimum 60 days, maximum 360 days.

University of Burgundy received an additional financial support from Erasmus+ France Agency which allows to fund internship grants of 700 euros/month for students undertaking an internship in a country outside the European Union in the 2nd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year.

This measure is not retroactive for internships already underway.

Complementary Erasmus+ grant for students with disabilities

 

Who is eligible for this grant?

uB’s students with disabilities going abroad as part of the Erasmus+ programme (studies or internship financed by the Erasmus+ internship grant).

This grant is in addition to the standard Erasmus+ mobility grant for studies and internships, in order to meet the specific needs of a person with a disability and to facilitate their international mobility.

What costs are eligible?

Eligible costs can range from specific accommodation, assistance from a companion during the trip, medical care, material support, home assistance, personal care assistant…

The number of grants may be limited, as it depends on the budget allocated to the University of Burgundy by the Erasmus+ programme.

Who is eligible for this grant? What are the eligibility conditions?

uB’s students on a semester/year exchange or internship abroad as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

Students enrolled in one of the COMUE UBFC courses should contact COMUE UBFC agents to find out how to apply for Erasmus+ funding.

This grant is added to the basic Erasmus+ mobility grant for studies and internships, to facilitate international mobility for students with fewer opportunities.

To be eligible, you must meet one of the following four criteria:

Complementary Erasmus+ grant for green travel

 

Who is eligible for this grant? What are the eligibility conditions?

Students from the uB who go abroad to study for a semester/year or do an internship as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

This grant is added to the other Erasmus+ mobility grants (studies, internships, grant for social inclusion, grant for students with disabilities) to encourage the use of eco-responsible transport.

To be eligible for this grant, the majority of your journey to/from the host organisation (university/structure where the internship will be carried out) must be by train, bus or carpool.

The number of grants may be limited, depending on the budget allocated to the University of Burgundy by the Erasmus+ programme.

How to apply?

Upload the scanned travel documents to your Mobility-Online account.

What is the application deadline?

Travel documents must be submitted at the end of your mobility and before the end of the academic year in which you carried out your mobility.

How much is the grant?

A total of 50 euros.

FORTHEM actions, financially supported by the European Union and the Agence Nationale de Recherche (French National Research Agency), should enable you to carry out mobility within partner universities, with full or partial funding from the University of Burgundy.

 

    

Regional council of Burgundy-Franche-Comté's bursary for international mobility

 

Who is eligible for this grant? What are the eligibility conditions?

Students from the University of Burgundy undertaking international mobility (studies, internship) as part of their university curriculum.

Good to know: you are not obliged to have French nationality or to be from the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region in order to obtain this aid because it is not your origin which determines your eligibility but the fact to be enrolled in a higher education establishment located in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region.

How to apply?

Submit your file online on the Regional Council website.

To be able to submit your request you will need a personalized code depending on your faculty/school/institute at uB. The codes below are valid for the year 2024 (codes for the following year are generally published at the end of December/beginning of January).

Your application will be validated by the University of Burgundy staff, and will then be processed by Regional Council staff.

What is the application deadline?

Applications are open until October 25.

You must complete your application file online on the Regional Council website and validate it so that it can be sent to uB staff. This process must be carried out no later than 30 days after the start date of your mobility (date indicated on the certificate of arrival at the partner university or the date on the internship agreement). If you are going abroad at the end of the calendar year, make sure you have completed and validated your file before October 25.

Ministerial aid for international mobility (Aide ministérielle à la mobilité internationale)

 

Who is eligible for this grant? What are the eligibility conditions?

uB’s students, receiving the Crous social criteria grant, who go to study or do an internship abroad as part of their university curriculum. During the duration of the stay abroad, the ministerial aid for international mobility is added to the social criteria grant.

How to apply?

Applications are made through Mobility-Online International office's platform when applying for studies or internship abroad. When you fill out the form, you must indicate that you will receive a Crous bursary during your international mobility so that your request can be taken into account automatically.

Please fill in only one form per mobility.

For example:

Don't forget to specify in your application form that you will receive a Crous bursary even if you have not yet received the official response from CROUS. If it is confirmed that you will receive a CROUS bursary, you must upload the official bursary statement as soon as you have received it. Students who are going abroad to complete an internship must also upload their internship contract to their account. If you do not upload this document your request will not be considered.

What is the application deadline?

It corresponds to the application dates for the different types of mobility (studies, internships) – your request for ministerial aid will therefore be processed at the same time as your study/internship mobility file.

The amount may depend on several factors:

Good to know: if you carry out several international mobilities during your university period, you can apply for this grant several times. Even if you have already received ministerial aid within another French higher education institution, you can make a new demand through the University of Burgundy. But be aware that the total sum a student can receive throughout their entire university period cannot exceed 3.600 euros.

You will receive the total amount in one instalment several days or weeks after your arrival at the host organisation and once you have uploaded the arrival certificate into your Mobility-Online account.

Franco-German University grant

 

Who is eligible for this grant? What are the eligibility conditions?

University of Burgundy French and international degree-seeking students who are studying a cursus intégrés programme between the uB and the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz or University of Opole in Poland, with the exception of those studying at bachelor and master level in cooperation with the University of Bologna.

How to apply?

If you are selected to join one of the cursus intégrés programmes, supported by the Franco-German University (UFA), your request for this aid will be taken into account automatically when you register with the UFA.

What is the application deadline?

Selected students will have to register with the UFA each year until they obtain their double degree. Registration must be made before September 30 of each year (firm deadline).

How much is the grant?

350€/month during mobility periods in Mainz – and in Opole as part of the Europa Master – up to a maximum of 10 months per academic year.

How is the grant paid out?

The UFA mobility aid is paid in full at the end of December for a departure in the first semester and mid-June for a departure in the second semester.
