The EURAXESS centre for international researchers is at your disposal to advise you on your stay in France.

Depending on your nationality and your situation (doctoral student, employee or guest researcher), we will assist you so that you can successfully complete your procedures: application for a visa, validation of the visa, application for a residence permit, etc.


If you have the nationality of a country belonging to the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland



If you have the nationality of a country which DOES NOT belong to the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland

 

For a stay shorter than 3 months

If you are employee in France

 

You must apply for a short-term visa to work as a "Scientifique/Chercheur" (scientist/researcher).

In order to apply for your visa you will need to provide your Convention d'accueil (welcome contract) signed by your French employer. In order to obtain this document you must be registered on the ALFRED website and have been officially recruited by a university or research centre in France.

Your research stay in France is only possible :

If you are a PhD student in France (unemployed)

 

Doctoral students of any nationality (except Algerian)

You need to apply for a long-stay visa to study. In order to apply for a visa, you will need to provide the notification of admission to a doctoral thesis issued by your Doctoral School in France.

Employees of all nationalities (except Algerian)

You must apply for a long-stay visa Passeport Talents (talent passport) as a Chercheur (researcher). In order to apply for your visa you will need to provide your Convention d'accueil (welcome contract) signed by your French employer. In order to obtain this document you must be registered on the ALFRED website and have been officially recruited by a university or research centre in France.

You must apply for a long-stay visa to work as a Scientifique / Chercheur (scientist/researcher).
